We’ve found that the best people in the world seem to be in the adoption community. The people we’ve met on our journey have been absolutely incredible. We really wish the whole world could be like this. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe it’s the knowledge of need or the strength provided by mutual support. Or, maybe, these people strut to different music than the rest of the world. Regardless, you will find no better people in this world.
Diane, a person we’ve become friends with but have never met personally, lives near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Through a series of Yahoo! adoption group posts, Diane and I hooked up in a conversation about the Tuyen Quang orphanage where our children currently live. During our dialog, I found out that Diane had photos of Tuyen and Nhim on her blog. I passed along our blog address to Diane and the strangest thing happened. Diane left a comment to a post we had made, More pictures and video of the kids…, that was almost mind-blowing. She exclaimed that in the photo of Tuyen, he was feeding Ellie, her baby!!! She has continued to follow our blog and provide support to us; even while Ellie was seriously ill. Then, we find out that Ellie is the new face of CHOP International Adoption Medicine. Very cool!!! Congrats Diane and Ellie!!!
Then today, Jane, a prospective adoptive mother and a new friend we met about a month ago, stopped by our house with her 3 boys in the pouring rain and dropped off bags of clothes, shoes and books for Tuyen and Nhim. The boys were so into the adoption and it was fun to have them around. Then, later, she called and said that her friend had MORE clothes for us and that we could setup a time to get those as well. There’s a good chance that we’ll travel together or at least have some overlap time in Hanoi when both families are finally permitted to travel to pick up our children. We saw Jane’s baby girl’s picture. She is so adorable (and has more hair than Michael).
These people are truly incredible. Without people like Diane, Jane, Hope and Seth and Scott and Jodi, this journey would be so much more difficult and heart-wrenching.
Still waiting impatiently to hold our kids…
